Who I am

My story

I did not come to coaching from theory. I came from a life that fell and that I rebuilt piece by piece.

In one sentence

I am Christian Abad. Born in Ecuador, made in the United States. Between those two countries I lost almost everything and learned to rebuild it. What I teach did not come from a book. It came from living it.

My philosophy fits in three words: live, learn, inspire.

The path

From Cuenca to here

Six moments that explain why I do what I do today.

1977 · Cuenca

Where it all began

I was born in Cuenca, Ecuador, into a loving family with strong values. As a child I learned to adapt fast, because we moved often from city to city.

In my teens I discovered something that would mark the rest of my life: my voice, and the power of communicating with it. By sixteen I had already started my first business in the entertainment world.

Ecuador

The decision to leave

My father's political work earned us enemies. I grew up among situations no young person should live through, and the violence escalated to a kidnapping.

When I got my freedom back, I saw clearly that my country was no longer a safe place to build. I chose my growth over comfort. I chose to leave.

"The best decisions come when you know your weaknesses and your strengths, and you can recognize every opportunity life puts in front of you."

2001 · New York

Starting from zero, again

I arrived in the United States at twenty-three, with only what I was wearing and no clear plan. That same year I survived September 11 from the 31st floor of Tower 1.

I started the way almost every Latino immigrant starts. I learned the language, took the jobs that were there, and over the years built my own events company for the Hispanic community in New York.

The fall

Having it all and falling anyway

I built a home, had my children, and from the outside it looked like I had made it. Inside, another story.

A divorce pulled me away from the daily life of my children. A deep depression came, I ended up with nowhere to live, and I spent two years lost in alcohol. The business was still standing. I was not.

"When you face obstacles in life, you decide whether to learn or to let them beat you."

The return

Getting back up

What pulled me off the bottom was not a motivational phrase. It was wanting to be close to my children.

I trained and certified as a coach. I studied neuro-linguistic programming, patterns of human behavior and leadership. And I reconnected with Ivanna, this time to build differently. Together we formed the family I have today.

Today

Ten years guiding entrepreneurs

For ten years I worked as a coach guiding entrepreneurs to grow. Out of that stage came a method refined in real work, not in a weekend theory.

Today that method has a name, the ABAD Method, and a clear mission: to build the largest community of Latino entrepreneurs in the United States. This brand is a new beginning, and I want you to come in early.

Why I do this

I want you to grow whole

I know up close the Latino entrepreneur who earns well and sleeps badly. Who holds up a company while the partner goes quiet at home. I know him because I was that man.

That is why I do not work on your business alone. I work on your body, your consciousness, your connection and your capital. All four areas, because when one falls, the others feel it.
